When you come in our front door to our main service counter and adjacent Seema Boutique, or when you come in our side door to our 24-hour business center, drop-off station, and private mailbox hub, you may not realize all of the other behind-the-scenes spaces that make up Island Ship Center. Did you know that between those two public spaces is more than 2,000 square feet of warehouse space, including a loading dock? Or that, within that warehouse space, we’ve built a state-of-the-art print production room?

Let’s talk about that amazing print production room…

On any given day, you’ll find Seema, Justin, and other ISC team members busy in our print production room doing design work, changing rolls on our new wide format printer, cutting business cards on our incredibly cool laser-guided cutter, spiral binding notebooks, laminating menus, or boxing up booklets as they come off our printing press.

Meet “Kash,” our German-made Triumph 5260 cutter with VRCut precision software, laser guides, and more bells and whistles than you ever though possible on a paper cutter. We sourced Kash from our good friends at the MBM Corporation, whose training and support has been invaluable. When we print anything that needs to be trimmed or cut—business cards, full-bleed flyers, event tickets, etc.—Kash allows us to cut exactly to specifications, making a finished product that shines with excellence far above anything we could have previously done with hand-operated cutters.

Now, meet “Flo,” our Canon ImagePRESS V800 printing press. The print production room was built for Flo, as she was too big to fit anywhere else in our space and needed a dedicated and upgrade electric source. Print jobs flow off of Flo constantly, with a finisher that’s always busy stapling, folding, and collating, and input trays capable of paper types that our standard printers couldn’t handle. Flo was a huge investment, but one we’re grateful we made every day because she allows us to print so much more high-quality products in-house.

The newest addition to the print production room family has yet to be named, but we’d like you to meet them anyway. We are thrilled to introduce you to our brand new HP DesignJet XL X3800 36″ multifunction wide-format printer, capable of doing architectural drawings, posters, banners, fatheads, vinyl, maps, and so much more! We can now also make scans and copies of large things like blueprints, maps, photos, and more. This is a service we’ve been asked to provide for a while now and are so excited to now have the equipment to make that a reality.

Do you have a good name suggestion for our new wide format printer? Please email us with ideas and then the ISC team will vote on our favorite and announce the name in our November newsletter.

And remember, ISC is your go-to locally owned and operated print headquarters…and we can’t wait to assist with your next project!

Fahim, Seema, and the Entire ISC Team.
