Honored by Doug smith's legacy through a gift from his wife and son
Doug Smith was a dear mentor of ours who passed away some years ago. He is survived by his wife Polly and son Joseph, among other members. He was a fantastic sports commentator, talented actor and great writer who loved to write about sports, especially baseball. He lived on Grand Island for nearly 50 years and gained much recognition locally as a celebrity author and personality. Both of us were fortunate to know him and learn from his wisdom. A few months ago, Doug's son Jo

Experiencing history through the Marshall house renovation project in Niagara Falls
Last month, we experienced a piece of history thorough an historic renovation project, thanks to our dear mentors and guests, Matt and Cherrish Beals. Both Islanders, they purchased the Marshall House property in Niagara Falls in January of this year, intending to preserve its history while operating it as a unique bed-and-breakfast. Completed in 1913, the Marshall House was built by James Marshall, a well known philanthropist and businessman, and is listed today on the Natio

Celebrating our 16th Anniversary with 16 cent color copies, uncle marty's visit and print room pre-launch
Can you believe it? 16 years! "Has it been that long?!" you ask. Absolutely. We began with a storage unit space on Baseline Road on April 5th, 2006 and moved to our current location on Whitehaven Road in April of 2008 and continued to make memories, with empathy and collaboration, one guest at a time. Slowly but surely, the word got around town and the trust and reputation followed. We are beyond touched and humbled to be of service through our plethora of printing and mailbo

The Rotary Club of Grand Island will again be running its annual UNDIE SUNDAY community project Feb 20-27. They have been running this service project for over 20 years. Once again, we at Island Ship Center are honored and proud to be a donation location for this worthwhile cause. Our Secure Shredding Service Clears Your Mind And Your Matter - Clutter Free Is The Way To Be
Not long ago, we were all extremely conscious of cleaning our hands and making sure we were germ free, and rightfully so. We saw the benefit of that one action in preventing the spread of viruses. Let us implore you now to clean your houses, dorms, office spaces and businesses of all the clutter too so that you can destress your minds. Did you know that ID theft is a growing problem in the US and that shredding your old documents is great way to prevent that theft from occurr

Fahim's Front Counter Hours This Year
A lot of people who know Fahim have been asking if he's still working at the front counter. There have been a lot of new faces behind the counter at Island Ship Center and we have both been busy working on our business instead of in our business, thanks to all these wonderful new ISC family members (#OneFamily). So, in this video, Fahim talks about his availability behind the counter, every Friday from 9 am to 1 pm, without any prior appointments needed. You can always text

Fahim's Transformation And Sugar Free Journey
Having goals in life is essential - especially when things look chaotic. So this year, take some time to really think about those goals. And remember, just having good intentions alone changes nothing. Nada. Zilch. You can make resolutions all you want -- but a resolution without a plan is just plain old wishful thinking. - Dave Ramsey How can we set goals and stick to them? We need a plan and dare I say a proper partner. In September of 2020, I set out to become sugar-free,

Our Team's New Year's Resolutions
As a conscious start to our year, some members of the Island Ship Center family had the opportunity to be vulnerable and share their personal aspirations and business prospects. We were able to sit down and discuss our goals in pursuit of inspiring and provoking mindfulness. Here’s what a few of us had to say: #FahimFix & #FulfilmentSpecialist We started off with the beloved father and son duo, Fahim and Yusuf. Fahim’s professional New Year's resolution is to increase the eff

Our New Signs Are Up Outside The Store - Large Shipments To The Back Of The Building Please
Tony Quimby of Quimby Signs is an awesome sign maker. He worked with us to make two new signs for the outside of our store. The first sign is on the street level, facing Whitehaven Road and shows many of our services to our guests. The second sign, the larger of the two, faces Ace Hardware, and shows our guests with large packages (and freight jobs) to proceed to the back of our building (using the common driveway with the bowling alley) towards our loading dock in the back o
