Identifying Fake Forever Stamps
In the past several years, incidents of counterfeit stamps and postage scams have skyrocketed, with Forever Stamps being a popular fraud target. While the only 100% certain way to ensure your Forever Stamps are authentic is to purchase them directly from the US Postal Service (USPS), there are signs you can look for to check if your stamps are legitimate or not. Just like counterfeit bills, counterfeit stamps can sometimes be hard to spot. To help, Seema and Fahim, wikiHow’s

Frances' Precious China to portland
Frances’ Precious China to Portland Our dear friend and client, Frances, needed to get heirloom china sent from Grand Island to her niece in Portland, Maine. So, she came to us at Island Ship Center! Each piece was packed with care by our certified packing specialists. In fact, china is one of our specialties, and something our team is trained on specifically during their packing certification course. It took lots of time and care, but because of that the shipment arrived in

Helping robin save the day...and a softball tournament
We don’t just say that we go above and beyond for our guests. We prove it. At the end of June, our dear client Robin contacted us. She was out of town in Colorado for her daughter’s softball tournament, but her daughter’s softball team’s uniforms hadn’t arrived yet from where they were shipped in Georgia. The shipper had gone to The UPS Store to send them from Georgia to Colorado, but when Robin called that business she was very displeased by “how unhelpful” they were and the

Precious ceramics shipment
One of our clients of many, many years recently lost her mother. When her brother and sister came up to Grand Island from Florida to be with family, they had wanted to take back with them some precious seasonal ceramic pieces that their mother had hand painted. But, they were nervous about taking the very fragile items on the plane and didn't feel comfortable packing them themselves. Luckily, they knew just the place to go! After working with the family, shipping seemed to be

Ms. Ali S.'s precious flowers
My mother, a resident of Grand Island, lost her fight to glioblastoma in early August. She was a perfectionist in every sense of the word, born with immense creativity and an eye for detail. Up until the very end, my family and I tried our best to approach every decision through her lens, including the decision on what flowers to include at her funeral. After the service concluded, we found ourselves with so many beautiful flowers arrangements all in the exact same color pale

I’ll be back for anything else I need and spread the word. You are the go-to spot!” When we receive an email like the one above, which we’re sharing from our client Alex with p

Freight success story
We can't recall a freight job that wasn't a success story, but there's one we did earlier this month that we are so excited to share with you, because the results were so spectacular: Bill, a long-time business client of ours, reached out on February 28th with an urgent need for trade show materials to be palletized and shipped to a convention center in Phoenix with guaranteed delivery in a tight window between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. on March 8. The contents were five boxes betw

Our last Testimonial of 2023 happens to be our favorite
So grateful to Jasmine and the team at Island Ship Centre for helping me with a very important Santa gift this Christmas! After an Amazon 3rd party carrier failed to get me my gift on time, I had to scramble to buy another table top ping pong table - my children’s only request from Santa. Available only in the US so close to Christmas, Jasmine at Island Ship Centre helped me to arrange to have the large, heavy package shipped to them. She effectively communicated with me thro

An In-depth analysis of Private mailboxes versus P.O. Boxes
In today's digital economy and ecommerce-centric world, efficient and secure mail and package handling are essential. Two common options for receiving mail and packages are private mailboxes and P.O. Boxes. We’d like to take a closer look at the differences between these two viable options, along with examining the high surcharges imposed by shipping giants like FedEx and UPS for residential deliveries. We're celebrating 17 years in business today and are thanking you for it
On April 5th, 2006, in a small storage unit on Baseline Road, Island Ship Center began operations, as a FedEx Authorized ShipCenter® and a dream: To build an exemplary community business that would serve the needs of our area through shipping and other relevant services. In April 2008, we moved to our current location on Whitehaven Road into a former office building with 850 square feet of space and added copy services. At that time our copy prices were 20 cents for black an
